Freshwater Stingrays

Freshwater Stingrays

There are three different species of freshwater stingrays in amazonia.

Stingrays at the National Zoo are actively bred. The little rays will be born approximately 90 days after copulation; the breeding season lasts all year.

Juveniles are kept in a separate tank; they are released into the flooded forest when they reach a certain size.
